According to reports, Lieutenant General Mohammad Aseem Malik, head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has been appointed as the new National Security Advisor (NSA) of the country. Malik was made the head of ISI in September 2024 and now he has been given additional charge of NSA.

Who is Aseem Malik?

Before becoming the ISI chief, Aseem Malik also served as Adjutant General at the Pakistani Army Headquarters, where he oversees military administrative matters including legal and disciplinary matters. According to the report, during his tenure as Adjutant General, there were some major incidents in Pakistan, including the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and then protests by his supporters and party workers.
