However, many of us still do not know about the PAN card number. PAN is a unique identification number that combines all financial transactions and activities. It is an alphanumeric identity number of 10-Axis which is released to Indian citizens as well as companies and other organizations. In this context, many people are unaware that the number marked on the PAN card has a special meaning. So let’s see more information about PAN card.
PAN number means
- The structure of the pan is diverse. The first three letters of the PAN card occur in the alphabet order from AAA to ZZZ.
- The fourth letter indicates the type of PAN holder, namely: individual, company, HUF, AOP, BOI, Government Institute, Artificial Judication, Person, Local Authority, Institute, Trust.
- The fifth letter of the alphanumeric identity reflects the first letter of the holder’s last name or unit.
- The four numbers after the letter indicate the number from 0001 to 9999.
- The last letter explains the check points of the alphabet.
How to verify PAN card?
- You can verify your PAN card online by visiting NSDL e-governance service portal.
- Go to the Income Tax e-Filing portal website.
- Choose the tab ‘PAN Status’ tab.
- You have to enter your PAN details like name, mobile number, date of birth etc.
- Verify from OTP, select continue button and you will get an OTP. It will be filled with OTP and your PAN verification will be completed.
