Mumbai – After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, marine security of Palghar region has been placed on high alert. Also, all the police officers and employees coming under the jurisdiction of all the sagri bay police stations have been instructed to be vigilant.
There are a total of four boats in the Palghar unit for maritime security of Palghar district. A boat is on and is regularly patrolling. A work order has been issued to a local repairer to repair one of the four outsider boats and the work of repairing that boat is going on. Apart from this, the process of repair has also started with the approved amount of money for modernization (repair) of the remaining two boats.
In coordination with the fisheries department of the Palghar unit, two drones are patrolling the coastline and monitoring it by the local police station. In Palghar region, marine patrolling is being done using private boats as required. Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard, Fisheries Department, Maharashtra Marine Board, Customs and police forces are regularly combined. Security arrangements have been made at Landing Point, Coastal Outpost and Marmasthal in Palghar region and they are being monitored strictly.
In view of the Pahalgam terror attack, a message has been sent to all the security forces of the Palghar unit to be vigilant. In addition, Coast Guard, security guards, local fishermen society and fishermen are in touch and are instructed to inform the Palghar Control Room and the local police station immediately if anything suspects are found.
The Palghar police rented four patrol boats for sea operations, of which two were in Satpati Dahanu and one in Virar. The boat is not in operation from March 20, as it was under a 100 -day contract from November. On the other hand, although a proposal to rent patrol boat for the entire season from August 1 to May 31 (about 245 days) on the west coast has been sent to a senior level, it has not yet received administrative approval.
The fisheries department has only two patrol boats to implement fishing rules and monitor the port area with a 270 km long coastline in four districts of Palghar and Thane along with Mumbai and Mumbai suburbs. Of these, only one boat is available for Palghar and Thane districts, whose coastline is 120 km long and the area has 26 fishing ports operating.
In this regard, Rajan Meher of the Satpati Fisheries Department said that the fisheries department is monitoring the Gulf using two drones and if any activity of foreign boats is revealed on the coast, the police will be informed immediately. Local fishermen have also been informed about this and if a boat is seen from outside, everyone will be kept alert.
