Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, known for her Bollywood debut in Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), is set to feature in her first-ever Hindi music video, Tu Chaand Hai. The romantic track, sung by Indian singer Akhil Sachdeva, will be released under Novice Records on April 4, 2025.
Akhil recently unveiled the first look and official poster of Tu Chaand Hai on his official Instagram account, creating excitement among fans.
Sharing the poster, he wrote, “Tu Chaand Hai – a special one from us to you. So excited to share this beautiful melody with you all, sung by the most talented Akhil Sachdeva. I can’t wait for you to hear it. Releasing April 4, exclusively on @novicerecordsofficial. Stay tuned.”
This marks a pivotal collaboration between an Indian singer and a Pakistani actress, generating buzz among music and film lovers. Mawra Hocane, who has a strong fan base in both Pakistan and India, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, calling it a ‘beautiful musical journey.’
Mawra had starred opposite actor Harshvardhan Rane in the Bollywood film Sanam Teri Kasam. The film was re-released in theatres recently and it broke box office records.
After an initial flop, the romantic drama became a box office success upon its re-release in 2025, grossing over Rs 50 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing re-released Indian film.
Ban on Pakistani artists
It may be noted that Pakistani artistes were banned from working in India after the 2016 Uri attack. She did not appear in any other Indian projects since the ban. However, the Mumbai High Court recently lifted the longstanding ban on Pakistani artists in India.
Mawra has been a part of Urdu film Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Pakistani projects like Qissa Meherbano Ka, Sabaat, Daasi, Sammi, Haasil, Shareek-e-Hayat, Maryam and others.
