Islamabad/New Delhi: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India’s aggressive trend has stirred up Pakistan. India has clearly expressed its readiness to teach Pakistan a lesson, after which Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif has immediately warned India. He has expressed concern over the policies of India in view of the Indus Water Treaty and a possible Indian invasion.

India’s first step and Pakistan’s tension

After the Pahalgam attack, the Government of India has started taking strict measures. Visa issued to Pakistani citizens has been canceled and preparations have started to stop water supply to Pakistan. Also, in view of the activities of the Indian Air Force, it is feared that action may be taken on terrorist bases in Pakistan at any time. All these things have created a wave of fear in Pakistan.

Khwaja Asif’s warning to India

Talking to the media, Defense Minister Khwaja Asif clarified that, “Pakistan is fully capable of giving a befitting reply to any attack. We want to have a general relationship with India, but we will not sit silent if incited.” He also said, “If India takes a hostile stance, we will answer in the same way that it was given in the ‘Abhinandan case’.”

Asif further said, “India has been considering withdrawing from the Indus Water Treaty for a long time. If India decides to stop the supply of water, it will be a violation of the international agreement.” He also clarified that India cannot take a unilateral decision as the World Bank is a guarantor of this agreement.

National Security Committee meeting and Indus Treaty

The Pakistani government has called an immediate meeting of the National Security Committee in this context. Khwaja Asif said that the Indus Water Treaty will be the top agenda in this meeting. He said, “Pakistan will remain united on the issue of national identity.” He also said that he fully supports the armed forces of the country.

An atmosphere of concern about the possibility of struggle in future

It is becoming clear that tension between India and Pakistan has increased once again on the issue of terrorism. India’s aggressive stance and Pakistan’s immediate response are indicated that the two countries are now on the verge of struggle again.

Interestingly, this decision of India is likely to create not only political, but also social and economic instability in Pakistan. The possibility of water supply being interrupted can be a serious crisis for Pakistan, which is why its government is expecting global intervention.

India’s policy steps are increasing

The first impact of the tough decisions taken by India after the Pahalgam attack is clearly visible on Pakistan. There is a possibility of increasing tension between the two countries on the issue of Indus Water Treaty and Pakistan’s aggressive statement is indicating that India’s new policy is becoming effective. The whole world is focusing on which direction India-Pakistan relations will go in future. But one thing is certain – India is now ready to give a powerful answer, with restraint.
