New Delhi: India on Thursday blocked the official YouTube channel of the Pakistani Army ‘ISPR Official’. The development came days two days after New Delhi blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels. The move was part of India’s effort to spread misinformation from the neighbouring country.

“This content is currently unavailable in this country because of an order from the government related to national security or public order. For more details about government removal requests, please visit the Google Transparency Report (transparencyreport.google.com),” the error message reads.

On Wednesday, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asid’s X handles were withheld in India. Instagram Channels of several Pakistani celebrities, including actor Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan were also blocked in India.

On Wednesday former Pakistan cricket team skipper Shahid Afridi’s YouTube channel was also officially banned in India. The 47-year-old has come under the scanner in recent times for his obnoxious comments against the Indian Army in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

Afridi is known for spewing venom against the Indian Army. After the Pahalgam attack, he blamed the Indian Army for not being vigilant. Earlier, the Modi government had banned the YouTube channels of former Pakistani cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Rashid Latif and Basit Ali.

On April 22, five to six terrorists opened fire at tourists at Baisaran meadows near Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, resulting in the death of 26 people, including a local pony guide. Initially, Pakistan-based terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT’s) offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the attack. However, as tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the attack, the TRF denied its role.

Diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan hit rock bottom after the attack.
