Operation Sindoor: Pak Minister Claims, ‘No Terrorist Training Camps In Pakistan’; News Anchor Fact-Checks Him On Live TV (VIDEO) | X (@ItsShubhangi)
Islamabad: During a live TV interview, Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar found himself challenged when Sky News anchor Yalda Hakim fact-checked his claim that Pakistan has no terrorist training camps. Hakim referred to a previous admission by Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who acknowledged the country’s involvement in supporting terrorism for the U.S. for thirty years. Tarar insisted, “There are no terrorist training camps in Pakistan,” claiming the country is a leader in the fight against terrorism, even criticizing India for not condemning the Jafar Express hijacking.
Despite Tarar’s assertion, Hakim reminded him of Osama bin Laden’s presence in Abbottabad, Pakistan, before he was killed in 2011. Tarar labeled India as the “aggressor” and maintained that Pakistan would respond to India’s actions, stating, “We brought down their aircraft.” This exchange occurred shortly after India conducted Operation Sindoor, striking nine targets linked to terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The timely operation was a retaliation to a terror attack in Pahalgam, showcasing the ongoing tensions between the two nations.
In a discussion on Sky News, Pakistan’s Tarar criticized New Delhi for allegedly targeting civilian areas, but Hakim countered that the Indian armed forces only targeted terrorist camps, not Pakistani military sites. Tarar firmly denied the existence of terrorist camps in Pakistan, asserting that his country is a victim of terrorism and a front-line state against it. However, Hakim referenced recent comments by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding policy of utilizing terrorist groups as proxies.
Hakim highlighted that former U.S. President Donald Trump cut military aid to Pakistan over accusations of duplicity. Tarar’s claims contradicted those made by former leaders like Gen Parvez Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto, as noted by Hakim. Despite being challenged, Tarar maintained that Pakistan guarantees world peace and invited Hakim to visit. Hakim recalled her own visit, mentioning that Osama Bin Laden was found in Pakistan. Tarar labeled India as a provocateur and vowed to defend Pakistani territory, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned India’s military actions as “an act of war,” promising a response. The Pakistan Army reported casualties from missile strikes, while Indian sources claimed significant neutralizations of terrorists.
