Chandigarh: Sukhwinder Kaur, one of the three victims of the recent Pakistani drone attack in Ferozepur, who was referred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana, succumbed to her injuries late Monday night.
It may be recalled that the incident had occurred on May 9, last, in village Khai Pheme Ki, located about 12 km from Ferozepur district headquarters.
While Sukhwinder Kaur, 50, sustained over 90 % burns, her husband, Lakhwinder Singh, 55, who was also rushed to DMCH, had also suffered 90% burns while their son, Jaswant, 24, sustained injuries. Jaswant was undergoing treatment at Ferozepur civil hospital and his condition was said to be stable.
They were injured late on May 9 night after a crashing projectile from a Pakistani drone destroyed by the Indian air defence system fell on a house in a residential area of village in the border district of Ferozepur. The projectile also damaged part of their house and car.
The incident was said to be the first such case of injuries caused in a suspected drone attack in the state. The police said that the defence forces neutralised most of the drones, though this was the only incident in the state where three civilians sustained injuries.
