The NIA has started investigating the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Terrorists who attacked tourists were wearing a security force uniform and attacked using the US-made M4 Carbine and AK-47. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached the Pahalgam attack site. Earlier, he paid tribute to those killed in Srinagar. It is reported that the bodies of those killed in the attack will be sent back to their hometown.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah met the victims and families of the remaining people and assured them that the attackers would not be spared. The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of each deceased, Rs 2 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh to the injured.

 

TRF took responsibility for the attack.

Pakistan-based restricted terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) and its pseudo-organization The Resistance Front (TRF) have claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. In January 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) declared TRF as a terrorist organization. Terrorists formed TRF after the cancellation of Article 370 in August 2019.

After the attack, protests took place at several places in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and Wednesday. In many places people protested and burnt effigies. Along with this, a shutdown has been called in many cities on Wednesday. A large number of people came out of their homes and raised slogans against Pakistan.
