The terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir has shocked the country, in which 26 people lost their lives. Most people were tourists in this attack. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep concern over the attack and appealed to the government to take strict steps against the terrorists. He said that it is most important to provide justice to innocent people killed in this terrorist attack and it is time to show solidarity against terrorism, not of politics.
Congress President’s statement
Kharge said, “This attack is a cowardly attack on the unity and integrity of our country.” He described it as another most barbaric attack by terrorists after the Chitt Singhpora massacre in 2000. He strongly condemned this cowardly attack on behalf of the Congress party and said that people who kill unarmed and innocent citizens cannot be humans.
Appeal for all -party meeting
Kharge appealed to the government that after this attack, all political parties should unite and call an all -party meeting to deal with terrorism. He also said, “This is not the time to do politics. Our tourists who have been killed in this massacre, this is the time to give them justice.”
Condolences for the families of the victims
Referring to Manjunath Rao, a tourist from Karnataka, the Congress President said, “Manjunath Rao went there with his wife and child, and died in this attack.” He expressed condolences with the families of the victims and said that the Karnataka government has sent Labor Minister Santosh Lad to Jammu and Kashmir, who is arranging for their return from about 200 tourists of the state.
Need to harden the security system
Kharge said that the government should make every effort to improve the security system of Jammu and Kashmir and to maintain the trust of tourists. The safety of passengers should be strengthened in view of such attacks during the Amarnath Yatra.
Terrorists need to give a befitting reply
Kharge said that the government should find the terrorists with all its strength and give a befitting reply to this attack. He also said, “The Pakistani terrorist organization has taken responsibility for this attack, and we have to give a befitting reply to it.”
Congress cooperation
The Congress President also clarified that his party is committed to coordination, cooperation and partnership with the government to end terrorism. “We have fought terrorism and separatism from time to time,” he said.
