Pahalgam Terror Attack: Central Government convened all -party meeting, will share the situation with opposition, discussion on tough decisions against Pakistan

The Central Government has called an all-party meeting today in view of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting will be chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, while Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will give information to the leaders of various political parties regarding the terrorist attack and will know their opinion.

The objective of this meeting is to give detailed information about the situation, the government’s steps and future strategy after the attack. Significantly, at least 26 people were killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, most of which were tourists.

Decision to take strict action on Pakistan

After the terrorist attack, there was an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs (CCS) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, in which tough decisions have been taken against Pakistan. The Government of India has taken important decisions such as limiting diplomatic relations with Pakistan, temporarily postponing the 1960 Indus Water Treaty and closing the Attari Border Outpost.

Demonstration of national unity in crisis

There has been a tradition of calling an all -party meeting after such serious incidents affecting national security. This establishes dialogue between the opposition and the government, and the picture of national unity in the time of crisis comes out. Even before this, such meetings were organized during the Pulwama terrorist attack in 2019 and the India-China deadlock in 2020.

During the meeting, opposition leaders will get full opportunity to understand the situation and present their views to the government. At the same time, the government will decide further steps related to national security by listening to the suggestions of the opposition.

Security forces placed on high alert

Before the all-party meeting, instructions have been issued to the security forces to stay on high alert in various sensitive areas of the country including the entire Jammu and Kashmir. The government is committed to taking all necessary steps in response to the terrorist attack.
