Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The pages of the diary of a former constable of the Transport Department Saurabh Sharma have come to light. The diary was found at Sharma’s residence, but what is written there has been revealed now. The records of the money, extorted from the check posts, are available in the diary.

The code words ‘TC’ and ‘TM’ were written in its pages. Sharma has used the code words to mention several other names in the diary. The amount that was to be received from RTO and flying squad was also described in it. If the amount mentioned the diary is analysed, it will be noticed that crores of rupees were extorted.

A sum of Rs 80 crore has been mentioned in one of the pages. A sum of Rs 49 crore which was checked with the previous month’s account was deducted. In the page, Sharma has also mentioned the amount that was distributed among the officials every month to hide corruption.

According to the records of transactions mentioned in the page, a sum of Rs 19 crore was distributed among the officials of the department every month. It has been mentioned under the code word ‘Begaar.’

According to the diary, the highest amount of money was received from Sendhwa in Indore division and Nayagaon in Ujjain. A sum of Rs 4 crore was received from Sendhwa. Similary, an amount of Rs 2.55 crore used to come from Nayagaon.

Lakhs of rupees were extorted from the check posts in Morena, Shahpur in Burhanpur district, Malthaun in Sagar and from Chakaghat check post in Rewa. The pages of Sharma’s diary indicate how corruption has sapped the Transport Department for years. But it came to light only after the raids.

Diary is an eye opener: Patwari

MPCC president Jitu Patwari has said Saurabh Sharma and the BJP government may keep mum over the corruption, but the diary is revealing the truth. It is blowing the lid off the cases of corruption. He also raised questions over the code words ‘TM’ and ‘TC.’

BJP’s state unit president VD Sharma said the agencies were honestly doing their work. ED and other agencies are also working on the issue.

Diary contains names of 3 officials

The diary seized by Income Tax department during the search against builder Rajesh Sharma is giving a sleepless night to one IAS official and two IPS officials. Actually diary contains their names in connection with a bribery case. The IAS official and IPS official are posted in Jabalpur.

One IPS official is posted at PHQ. Sources said a mining company had unethically removed two Board of Directors and they had lodged the complaint. To hush up the case, bribe was given to an IAS official and two IPS officials.
