All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said that BJP and AAP are ideologically similar and both have their roots in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Owaisi alleged that both the parties promote Hindutva politics.
RSS related allegations against BJP and AAP
When Owaisi was asked whether BJP and AAP were playing Hindutva politics in Delhi elections, he replied,
“Mother (RSS) has created both BJP and AAP. The RSS first formed the Jan Sangh, which later became the BJP in 1980. AAP was formed in 2012-13. This is the second model prepared in the laboratory of Hindutva.”
AIMIM’s election stance in Delhi
Owaisi clarified that AIMIM will contest elections in Delhi, but the number of seats to be contested will be decided by the party’s Delhi unit president.
Allegation of discrimination against Muslims in Delhi
Owaisi accused the Delhi government and BJP of discriminating against Muslim areas.
- He said, “Garbage in Delhi is being dumped in areas where Muslims live.”
- He termed AAP’s claims of building schools and hospitals as “drama” and said, “The claims of development are false. The situation in Muslim areas exposes these claims.”
Questions on Veer Savarkar College and Gandhi assassination
Owaisi raised sharp questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone of a college in the name of Veer Savarkar in Delhi.
- He asked, “Does the Central Government accept the reports of the Kapoor Inquiry Commission, in which Savarkar was described as a part of the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi?”
Ajmer Dargah and Chadar controversy
Owaisi targeted BJP and Sangh Parivar in the context of Prime Minister Narendra Modi sending chadar to Ajmer Dargah.
- He said, “The message of sending the chadar is that the government is concerned about those who have faith in mosques and dargahs. But people associated with BJP and RSS are challenging mosques and dargahs in courts, saying they are not religious places.”
- Owaisi said that the government should take steps to end these claims.
Questions on the participation of Muslims in Sambhal and Central schemes
Owaisi alleged “one-sided oppression” over the incidents in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
- He also sought clarification from the Central Government on the participation of Muslims in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other government schemes.
