Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 65-year-old woman was murdered by around ten masked attackers armed with sharp weapons over a land dispute in Jabalpur on Monday.
The woman named Heera Bai Choudhary, was brutally murdered late at night in Ghunsaur village of Shahpura, Jabalpur, by masked attackers armed with sharp weapons.
According to information, the attack, was reportedly linked to a long-standing land dispute, which has left the village in shock and fear.
The incident occurred while Heera Bai was sleeping at home with her daughter-in-law, Sita Bai.
Around 10 armed men broke into the house, slit Heera Bai’s throat, and fled. Sita Bai, fearing for her life, remained silent as the attackers carried out the crime.
The police, along with forensic and dog squad teams, reached the spot and began their investigation.
Preliminary findings point to a land dispute with the village sarpanch, Umesh Patel, and deputy sarpanch, Durgesh Patel, as the motive. Both have been identified as key suspects.
Additional SP Suryakant Sharma informed that special teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits. The incident has sparked anger and grief in the village, with the victim’s family demanding swift action and justice.
This tragic case highlights the dangers of unresolved land disputes and raises concerns about safety in rural areas.
Authorities assured that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
