Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Over a dozen were arrested in Jabalpur on Sunday for their involvement in an illegal arms trade. The police seized 15 illegal pistols and 19 cartridges during the operation.
The action has been taken under a special operation launched by police to curb the illegal arms trade that has been going on for a long time. The criminals were using illegal weapons to carry out serious crimes including robbery, threats, and other crimes in the city.
ASP Anand Kaladgi told Free Press that the operation did not only focus on apprehending the accused but also on taking concrete steps to dismantle the entire supply network.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused used to buy illegal pistols at a price ranging from ₹4,000 to ₹20,000. The police are currently interrogating the suspects to determine the source and suppliers of these weapons.
Arrested Accused and Recovery:
Belkheda Police Station: 2 pistols and 5 cartridges were recovered from Ajay alias Ajju Lodhi and Rajendra alias Raju Lodhi.
Panagar Police Station: 2 pistols and 2 cartridges were recovered from Nitesh, Anil, Jitendra, and Jani.
Barela Police Station: 1 revolver and 2 cartridges were recovered from Nitesh Tekam.
Kundam Police Station: 1 pistol and 1 cartridge were recovered from Sahil Sahu.
Shahpur Police Station: 1 pistol and 1 cartridge were recovered from Durgesh Patel.
Hanumantal Police Station: 3 pistols and 3 cartridges were recovered from Saifu Khan, Chirag Sonkar, and Vishal Sankar.
Ranjhi Police station: 2 pistols, and 3 cartridges from Anuj Thakur and Praveen Rajak.
Madhotal Police station: 1 pistol, 1 revolver and 2 cartridges from Shobhit Suryavanshi and Lakhan Chaudhary.
After the action of Jabalpur police, residents appreciated the efforts of police.
