Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A 14-year-old girl was kidnapped by more than a dozen armed men in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena on Tuesday night after her family rejected a marriage proposal.
The incident happened in Hingona Khurd village late Tuesday night around midnight. On Wednesday morning, the girl’s family reached the Civil Lines police station to file a complaint.
ASP Surendra Pal Singh Darbar confirmed that a case of abduction had come to light. The police are investigating the matter.
The girl’s family revealed that seven years ago, they had arranged her marriage with a man named Naine from Kemra village.
However, they later rejected the match because they did not like the boy. Since then, the other party had been pressuring them to go ahead with the marriage.
On the night of the incident, the girl was sleeping on the terrace with other women of the family. Suddenly, a group of armed men arrived in a Bolero and on motorcycles.
They carried six rifles, country-made pistols, and wooden sticks. The attackers broke down the door and assaulted the family members, including the girl’s parents, uncle, and brothers.
They also fired shots in the air to create fear. After beating the family, they forcibly picked up the girl and took her away in the Bolero.
The girl’s mother said that the attackers stormed into their house all at once. Six of them had rifles, two had pistols, and the rest carried sticks. They caught hold of the children, beat them, and even slapped the women. The family was terrified after the gunshots.
The girl’s aunt, who was sleeping beside her on the terrace, said she witnessed the kidnappers grabbing the girl and taking her away while her own children were sleeping in a room downstairs.
The police are investigating the case, and efforts are being made to rescue the girl.
