Navi Mumbai: Over 450 students from PM Shri Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj School run by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkarnagar, Rabale were given the unique opportunity to attend a live Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium.
The initiative was part of the school’s continued efforts to promote holistic student development beyond academics. Facilitated by the NGO CRY and spearheaded by former Navi Mumbai Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane, the outing was further supported by NMMC’s Deputy Commissioner of Education, Smt. Sangharatna Khillare, and school headmistress Snehal Vishe.

For many of the students, most of whom hail from working-class families, it was their first visit to a stadium and their first time watching a live cricket match—an experience made even more special by the presence of Mumbai Indians team chairperson Mrs. Nita Ambani and celebrated cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle.
The students’ joy and awe were evident as they soaked in the electrifying atmosphere, cheered for their favorite players, and enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Teachers and school staff who accompanied them described the initiative as not just an entertaining outing but also a powerful source of inspiration for the children.
The event underscores NMMC’s commitment to providing well-rounded educational opportunities and enriching experiences for students in its schools.
