Mumbai: Over 3,000 women claimed an exclusive right on the 10km long picturesque route from Gateway of India in Colaba to NSCI Dome in Worli during the ‘Nike After Dark Tour’ night run.

On Saturday, sports apparel and equipment company Nike organised a 10K run on the streets of South Mumbai. The evening run titled ‘Nike After Dark Tour’, organised in seven cities across the world, is aimed at celebrating women’s running, community and self-expression. According to Nike, the series is designed to bring women to the forefront, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.

With bold red lights across the 10km pathway, women runners gathered at the Gateway of India at 7.04pm to receive hair and flash tattoo services after which the run was flagged off at 8.30pm. Passing through Taj Mahal Hotel, Regal Cinema, Ambedkar Statue, Rajabhai Clock Tower, Churchgate, Marine Lines, Charni Road, Opera House, Peddar Road, Haji Ali, Lala Lajpat Rai Road, Love Grove Junction, the run ended at NSCI Dome in Worli, with a music concert by Jonita Gandhi specially for the participants who completed the run.

While special online training plans were curated for the participants by Nike’s Head Coach Diljeet Taylor, a special 1.6km ‘Shakeout Run’ was also organised on Friday 7pm at the Wings Sports Centre in Bandra (W) for participants to shake out their nerves and get race day ready.

The 10k ‘Nike After Dark Tour’ was organised on Saturday in Mumbai and South Korea’s Seoul simultaneously. The series was kicked off with a 21.1K run in Sydney on April 12 and 10K in Shanghai on April 27. Going forward, a 13.1K run is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on June 7, 21.1K run in Mexico on June 21 and 10K run in London on November 3.
