More than 3,090 policemen, including the DCP and ACP from Thane police, one SRPF (State Reserve Police Force) company, and three RCP (Riots Control Police) units will be deployed across the city to prevent any untoward incidents on New Year’s Eve.
The Thane police have established 56 Naka bandi points, and 41 breath analyzers have been provided to the Thane Traffic and local police for checking on New Year’s Eve.
Two additional Commissioners of Police, eight Deputy Commissioners, 16 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 118 police inspectors, 315 Assistant Police Inspectors, 2,253 police constables, and 378 female police constables will be deployed in all important locations frequented by crowds on December 31.
This includes Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Thane, and Wagale, where the police have established Naka bandi due to massive crowds during New Year’s Eve. Special squads, along with traffic police, will monitor drunk drivers at all important junctions across the city.
Police sources said that they will patrol and take action against motorists violating traffic norms and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police said that on December 29, they imposed a fine of over Rs 7 lakh for preventive action against those who violated the norms of the respective acts or laws, such as the Motor Vehicle Act, Maharashtra Police Act, NDPS Act, and BNSS Act.
Several policemen and women will be in civilian clothes around crowded places such as hotels, lodges, and dhabas to prevent any untoward incidents.
