Bhubaneswar: More than 13,000 people who were reported missing in Odisha remain untraced, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state Assembly on Monday.
Responding to a query from Congress MLA Sofia Firdous, Majhi provided details on the number of missing cases registered in the state since June 2024, the number of cases resolved, pending cases, and the challenges faced by authorities in tracing the missing individuals.
According to the Chief Minister, a total of 20,060 missing person cases were registered between June 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025. Of these, 7,048 individuals have been found, while 13,012 cases remain unresolved.
The government has assured that efforts are being intensified to locate the missing persons. Law enforcement agencies are collaborating with various departments and leveraging modern surveillance technology to track and rescue those still unaccounted for.
