Mumbai: The OTT release of Rajkumar Rao and Vamika Gabbi’s film ‘Bhoomchuk Maaf’ has also been banned. The Bombay High Court has ordered a ban on the release of the film on the OTT.
The film was scheduled to release last Friday. But the very next day, on Thursday, producer Dinesh Vision announced the cancellation of the country, citing the current situation in the country. He announced that the film would be released directly on OTT instead of theaters a month later. This caused a major setback to the cinema owners and multiplex companies. He had already started advance booking for this film, but had to return the money.
Due to this, multiplex companies have filed a claim in the Bombay High Court seeking compensation from Dinesh Vijan and claimed that they have lost Rs 60 crore. The Bombay High Court has banned the film’s release on any platform for eight weeks, keeping in mind the criteria of the film’s release and release on OTT for eight weeks. The court admitted that the argument of the manufacturer that he has the right to release the film on any stage at any time.
Dostana-2’s decision: not the cinema, it will be released directly on OTT
It is clear that they have violated the agreement with multiplex companies. Due to this, they have to face economic loss as well as embarrassment.
Meanwhile, according to business circles, the climate of the country is really an excuse. Actually, the advance booking of this film was not very successful. The film was scheduled to flop from the very first day. Since Dinesh Vijan has given hit films like ‘Chhava’ and ‘Stree’ earlier, he must have felt that if the film flopped, he would be insulted, so he must have decided to release the film directly on the OTT in the name of the country’s atmosphere. Apart from this, it is also a fact that even in this environment, Ajay Devgan’s collections including ‘Red 2’ have not had any effect on any kind.
