Madhya Pradesh: Opposition Raises Dust In House For CBI Probe In Transport Scam | FPJ

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Congress on Thursday raised a dust in the House, demanding CBI probe into the Transport Department scam. The party also staged a walkout after the commotion.

52kg gold and Rs 10 crore found in a car

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar raised the scam through a call attention motion. But Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh turned down the demand for CBI inquiry. Singhar said after raids on former constable of Transport Department Surabh Sharma’s residential premises, 52kg gold and Rs 10 crore had been found in a car at Mendori in Bhopal.

Singhar said there were three cars, but the name of the owner of the gold and cash was yet to be revealed. Because the special police establishment was unable to lay their hands on the truth behind the incident, the IT department had to plunge into action.

Singhar alleged someone close to the former transport department was involved in the case. The papers related to the accounts of the department, which have so far come out, contained the handwriting of a former officer Dashrath Patel. Singhar demanded setting up of an inquiry against former transport minister and against former transport commissioner who has been shifted.

He demanded the government to do NARCO analysis of the accused. Deputy leader of the opposition Hemant Katare said that the CDR and the live locations of the vehicles should be brought out and inquired. Katare further said Sharma had been appointed as part of a design to extort money from the check posts of the Transport Department.

The Transport Minister said Lokayukta SPE had written to other agencies to get information about gold and cash found in the car, but it is unavailable. After SPE raids on Sharma’s residential premises, it came to light that he had cash worth Rs 8.85 crore and unmovable assets worth Rs 30 crore.

Letter written to DGP

The minister said also Sharma had used a fake affidavit to get a job in the Transport Department. A letter has been written to DGP for action against him. No dairy was seized Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh said Lokayukta Special Police Establishment never laid their hands on any dairy during the raids on the residential premises of Saurabh Sharma.

Singh said complete information about the gold and cash would be available through probe agencies only after the inquiry. Vijayvargiya intervenes several times Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kailash Vijayvargiya intervened several times during the Leader of Opposition’s call attention motion.

Vijayvargiya was against mentioning anybody’s name in the allegations. He said the Vidhan Sabha would function according to the rule book.
