Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday strongly criticized the opposition parties for neglecting the development of women for many years and accused them of giving priority to their “political equations” while his government addressed issues like triple talaq. Focused on empowering Muslim women. Continuing to criticize the opposition, PM Modi said that they do not stand for the rights of Muslim women. Addressing the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Abhinandan Program’ in Gujarat’s Vadodara, PM Modi said, “If the opposition was really concerned about the development of women, they would not have deprived them for decades.”
The Prime Minister was referring to the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act (Women’s Reservation Bill), which reserved one-third seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, and claimed that when his government talked about providing toilets, the opposition parties Made fun of him.
PM Modi said, “These are the same people who made fun of me when I talked about toilets for women, and when I talked about Jan Dhan accounts for women. He had made fun of the Ujjwala scheme.” He also criticized the opposition parties for opposing the law against ‘triple talaq’.
“When we were talking about liberating Muslim women from triple talaq, they were worried about their political equations. He was not concerned about the rights of Muslim women, he was only concerned about his vote bank. When the law against triple talaq was brought. Why didn’t he stand up for the rights of Muslim women?” PM Modi asked the question.
Before his speech, Prime Minister Modi held a road show in Vadodara with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. A large crowd of supporters, mainly women, took to the streets and displayed placards to welcome PM Modi as he rode in an open-top carriage decorated with flowers.
Notably, as a significant group of women led PM Modi’s convoy, the local crowd cheered and raised slogans. Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi delivered the keynote address to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit at the Science City in Ahmedabad.
