What is operation vermilion?
The Indian Army took this action on 22 April to avenge the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 innocent people. In retaliation, the Indian Army carried out missile attacks on 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pojk in the early hours of Wednesday.
A large number of flights canceled
Due to this military action, 18 airports including Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala, Jamnagar, Bhuj, Kishangarh, Bikaner, Gwalior and Rajkot have been temporarily closed. During this time more than 200 flights have been canceled.
Delhi airport also affects
Its impact is also being seen at the country’s busiest Delhi Airport. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) alerted passengers and informed that some flights from Delhi Airport have been affected due to changing the condition of aircraft. So far, 35 flights from Delhi have been canceled.
Advisory issued by Airlines
Airlines like Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air and Air India Express have canceled flights from airports like Srinagar, Amritsar, Leh, Jodhpur, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, Rajkot and Jammu till the morning of May 10. Airlines are requesting passengers to check the flight conditions before going to the airport.
Options available for passengers
Airlines have given relief to the affected passengers, giving the entire refund of the ticket or alternative flight. SpiceJet and Akasa Air have also advised passengers to check the flight situation. Airport officials have appealed to the passengers not to reach the airport without confirming the situation.
