The tension on the border has increased after India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan. Pakistan is constantly firing on its border. India is very cautious about Pakistan’s possible antics and for this, mock drills and blackout rehearsals are being organized across the country. As a precaution, mock drills and blackout rehearsals have been organized at many places in Punjab, especially in the border states adjacent to Pakistan.
Amritsar Airport closed
Late night blackout process was resumed in Amritsar, Punjab. The power supply of the entire city was disrupted. After this, the District Public Relations Officer of Amritsar issued a message asking the people that there is no need to panic. The administration has again implemented blackouts. He appealed to the people not to get out of their homes and should not gather anywhere, as well as asked people to keep the lights and mobile phones off. Amritsar Airport has also been closed till next notice as a security measure.
Urge people to stay at home
Shortly after closing the lights in Amritsar under a mock drill held in many cities across the country, the district administration again black out on Thursday morning. The general public has also been appealed to stay indoors. This mock drill started at around 1.30 pm. Earlier, this mock drill was held in Amritsar from 10:30 to 11 pm. After this, lightning also went down late at night. Mock drills and blackout rehearsals were organized not only in Amritsar but also in many other districts of the state in Punjab. People were taught through mock drill how to keep themselves ready in emergency. Mock drills were organized in the state’s Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Barnala and Mohali.

During the blackout rehearsal, the sirens were played warning of air strikes at these places. Mohali and Chandigarh also had lightning for 10 minutes from 7.30 pm. Mock drills were held from 8.30 am to 8.40 am in Sangrur, from 8 to 8.30 pm in Ludhiana and 9.30 pm in Ferozepur. However, officials said that during the blackout rehearsal, electricity was cut in the markets and malls of the cities, no such cuts were made in hospitals and medical institutions.
