Kneeling to express your love towards your partner is not old-fashioned, but people are trying out new ways to win the hearts of their mates. A wedding proposal in China took an amusing twist when a girlfriend nearly ate the engagement ring. Oh, but how? She wasn’t aware that her boyfriend would surprise her with a ring hidden inside a cake he presented her.
A woman from the Sichuan province of China shared the incident on social media. Identified as Liu, she narrated how she almost ate the ring her boyfriend hid inside the cake.
The incident has undoubtedly gone viral, drawing both laughter and caution.
Woman spits out ring
Liu arrived home hungry one evening and quickly picked up a cake baked by her boyfriend. It was a taro and meat floss cake that carried the proposal ring inside. As she ate the dessert, she suddenly felt something unusual after a few bites. She realised she crunched on something hard, which prompted her to spit it out. All she saw was an adorable golden ring.
She initially thought the bakery accidentally dropped the ring inside. She believed it was a mistake made by the bakery from where her partner had baked it, but she soon learned it was a surprise planned by her boyfriend.
Boyfriend proposes love
When Liu was in doubt, her boyfriend stepped in and looked at the object, He then revealed the scene to her and expressed his heart out. “Honey, I think this might be the ring I was going to propose to you with”, a report by local news media outlet SCMP wrote quoting the words of Liu’s boyfriend.
Next, Liu asked if he would adopt the traditional way to propose to her. She reportedly smiled and encouraged him to kneel down and say the magical words. The proposal was happily accepted.
The woman later described the incident as “The most dramatic scene of the year” and requested others against hiding rings in food due to its inherent risks.
