In a disturbing incident highlighting growing social insensitivity, bystanders chose to record videos rather than help as two truck drivers burned to death following a collision in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when two trucks collided near a petrol pump on National Highway 34 in the Sumerpur police station area. The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught fire immediately. One of the drivers attempted to escape by opening his door, but was trapped inside as onlookers filmed the horrific scene on their mobile phones instead of offering assistance.

Circle Officer Rajesh Kamal reported, “Two trucks caught fire after a head-on collision near Sumerpur Mandi. Fire tenders arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control. A rescue operation was launched to save a trapped driver.”

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with one user commenting, “Stay away from technology that makes you so insensitive that you’d rather record a dying person on your phone than try to save them. This video from Hamirpur is deeply disturbing.”

The tragic event has raised serious questions about the growing trend of bystanders prioritizing video documentation over helping people in life-threatening situations. Had someone stepped forward to pull the driver out when he was attempting to escape, a life might have been saved.

Both drivers ultimately perished in the fire after one of the truck’s doors became blocked due to the collision, trapping the occupants inside.
