Increase in online sales in India: The trend of online market has continuously increased in this festive season. Due to strong demand in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the gross merchandise value of the e-commerce sector has increased by 12 percent to $ 14 billion (Rs 1.18 lakh crore) compared to last year.
The trend of online shopping has increased in rural areas. Online sales in rural areas increased by 13 percent. According to a report by RedSeer Strategy Consultants, consumers are preferring to shop online due to instant commerce, attractive discounts on products like electronics, fashion, beauty and personal care, home goods, groceries, etc.

According to a report released by RedSeer, there has been an increase in online sales of premium products and items priced below the average selling price. The online market has seen strong demand for large appliances and premium electronics in metro cities. Whereas the demand for fashion, beauty-personal care products has been highest in rural areas.
Increased confidence in e-commerce
This year, during the festive season, e-commerce sales have increased in tier-2 cities of the country. Which shows the increasing confidence of customers towards e-commerce. The e-commerce market is expected to grow rapidly in the near future. The reason behind this is the attractive discounts available online, return-replace policy and the convenience of shopping from home.
Demand for fashion products has tripled
In the current financial year, fashion products i.e. apparel have been purchased the most by consumers in the e-commerce segment. Demand for ethnic wear, jewellery, accessories has increased three times. Moreover, the instant commerce sector is also expanding rapidly with delivery options within minutes, hours and same day.
