Mumbai – An online property registration system is being introduced by the Maharashtra government under the ‘one state, one registration’ initiative. Next date. From May 1, those who buy and sell property will not need to go to the sub-registrar office, as the entire process of property registration will be online.
The foundation day of Maharashtra can be registered from any district of the state from May 1, from anywhere, property can be registered from anywhere.
Currently, people have to visit government offices for property registration and often face difficulties. Now the Inspector General of Stamp and Registration has started the online assets registration system, so that property transactions can be done online from anywhere in Maharashtra.
Explaining in detail about the benefits of the new system, the minister said that the person living in Pune can register the property even without physical presence in Nagpur or vice versa. This faceless process will be easily completed through Aadhaar verification and income tax documents.
The online registration system was earlier launched in Mumbai as a pilot project and will now be implemented in the entire state from 1 May.
A senior official of the revenue department said that the facility of property registration will be available from any place in the state in 519 sub-review offices of Maharashtra, which will reduce the congestion in the office considerably. This will take time in the process and increase transparency.
Additionally, this initiative is expected to increase the state’s revenue through stamp duty and registration fees, as property registration and stamp duty after Goods and Services Tax (GST) and VAT is an important source of revenue revenue.
The government has already earned more than Rs 1000 crore. The Finance Minister has targeted to raise Rs 50,000 crore from stamp duty and registration fee for 2024-25. 60,000 crore rupees in 2025-26.
