Jagdalpur, 15 November (HS). Bastar Olympics will be org.zed at the development block level, district level and division level. Whereas, from the point of view of availability of facilities, hockey and weightlifting competitions are being held only at the district level. More than one lakh 70 thousand players have registered to participate in their sports discipline in Bastar Olympics. These days, in the first phase of Bastar Olympics, development block level sports competition is going on in all the districts of the division. Sports disciplines of Bastar Olympics include athletics, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, relay race, archery, kabaddi, badminton, kho-kho, football, volleyball, tug of war, karate.
Players from remote interior areas like Naxal affected Koleng, Mundagarh, Chandameta, Paknar, Chandragiri also participated with enthusiasm in the block level competition of Darbha development block of Bastar district. These players told that Bastar Olympics gave a good opportunity to us rural youth who used to play volleyball among themselves. For the first time, village players got the opportunity to play at the development block level and our team was the runner-up. He said that through sports, players from other regions are getting an opportunity to improve their game through sports activities and contact with them. The youth like Samuram, Ghasiram, Motiram Nag etc., who were part of the volleyball team of Chhindgur (Koleng), thanked the Chief Minister while positively expressing the initiative of the State Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for org.zing this important event of Bastar Olympics. Expressed gratitude towards the district administration for better org.zation at the rural level.
