Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): In continuance of Anti-Drug operations, on the basis of specific intelligence, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Neemuch intercepted a car along with its occupant at Village NangalBela, Tehsil Jamwa Ramgarh & District- Jaipur (Rajasthan) and seized total 7.173 kgs of illicit opium on February 12.
After receiving specific intelligence that a car having registration of Gujarat, would be carrying illicit opium in specially-built cavity from Nepal to Marwar area, a team of officers of CBN Neemuch was formed and dispatched in the afternoon of February 9.
Strict surveillance on the suspected route was kept for more than 36 hours and the vehicle was identified at Rajadhok Toll Plaza on Agra-Jaipur Highway.
On successful identification of the vehicle in the afternoon of February 11, CBN officers signalled the vehicle to stop but the occupant of the vehicle put in on reverse gear and hit a civilian vehicle, damaging it in the process and tried to flee from the spot.
After a daredevil chase of several kms, CBN officers intercepted the vehicle at Village Nangal Bela,Tehsil Jamwa Ramgarh & District- Jaipur (Rajasthan). The occupant of the vehicle tried to flee on foot after locking the vehicle but CBN sleuths successfully nabbed him.
Since it was not possible to search the vehicle on the spot due to security reasons & logistical issues, it was brought to the CBN office and was thoroughly searched which resulted in recovery of 7.173 kg of illicit opium from specially-built cavity beneath the vehicle. The vehicle was lifted with the help of a crane to get access to the cavity.
After legal formalities, the recovered opium along with the vehicle has been seized and one person has been arrested under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
In another operation, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Neemuch intercepted a bike along with its occupant at Bansen Chittorgarh four-lane, near village Hoda Hadiyakhedi , Tehsil Bhadesar, District Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) and recovered total 3.489 kg of opium on February 12. Further investigation was underway.
