Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Holi, the festival of colour and joy turned into an occasion of gloom and mourning for three families of the city as three individuals lost their lives in separate incidents on Friday while celebrating. One died in a road accident, while the other two drowned.

Youth dies in a bike crash

In the first incident, a youth going to Tornado Water Park for a picnic to celebrate Holi was killed and his friend was injured after his bike crashed into a tree on Tincha Fall Road.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Bharat, son of Rajesh, a resident of Juni Indore. He was going on a bike with his friend Pawan to Tornado Water Park for a picnic.

Just before reaching the park, the bike crashed into a tree at a turn. Due to high speed, Bharat could not control the bike. He suffered severe head injuries, while Pawan was also injured. Their friends, who were following behind on another two-wheeler, rushed them to the MY hospital where Bharat succumbed to his injuries during treatment

Man drowns while bathing in river

In another incident in the Kampel area, a 40-year-old man named Mithun, a resident of Devguradiya, drowned while bathing in a river near the Kevdeshwar Temple.

His friends said that Mithun ignored their warnings and jumped into the water. A few moments later, he was found floating near the shore. His friends tried to pump water out of his stomach and rushed him to the hospital where doctors declared him dead on the arrival.  

Youth drowns in water-filled quarry

A 19-year-old youth drowned in a water-filled quarry near Jawahar Tekri under Chandan Nagar police station limits, while taking a bath with his friends on Friday. The incident occurred at around 12 PM when he and his friends went to take a bath after celebrating Holi. The youth slipped into deep water and drowned. His friends tried to save him but in vain.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Bhola, son of Bheema Banjara, a resident of Jawahar Tekri. Bhola worked as a videographer in marriage functions.

His father said that Bhola was playing Holi with his friends and had gone to his relative’s house in Bhanwarkuan. Later, his father got a call on the phone that his son drowned. He reached the spot and started searching for his son. The police were called and they retrieved the body after a search operation.

The police began a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and got the post-mortem examination of the deceased conducted.
