A tourist bus carrying engineering students fell into a gorge in Kerala’s Idukki on New Year’s Day. One student died in this accident while 40 are said to be injured. The accident took place at around 1 pm on Sunday night when the engineering college students were returning from a study tour.
The students of an engineering college in Trirur, 320 km from Thiruvananthapuram, had gone on a study tour late last year. There were 41 students on board the bus along with three staff members of the school. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the rescue team reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. The rescue team found the student’s body under the bus at around 6 am. 15 students have been admitted to Kottayam Medical College in critical condition. The place where the accident happened is a forest area. According to the report, the accident happened due to the negligence of the driver. Driving at night is prohibited in the area where the accident took place.
