Patna: One of the accused in the Tanishq jewellery showroom heist in Bihar’s Arrah was killed in an encounter by Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday. Three STF personnel were also injured in the gunfight, according to media reports.

A joint raid was conducted by STF, Patna Police and local officials. The accused was asked to surrender. However, he kept firing at the forces. It lead to an encounter.

He was sent to a hospital at Narpatganj for treatment. Doctors declared his brought dead. The identity of the accused has not been revealed by the police.

The loot was carried out by the accused on March 10. The showrrom was was looted at gunpoint A group of men barged into the store,

overpowering security personnel and holding staff and customers hostage before executing their task and fleeing with jewellery. According to local reports, the looted articles amounted to Rs 25 crore; however, the police haven’t confirmed the value.

The robbery occurred around 10:30 AM on March 10 and the visuals from the incident have now surfaced online. According to CCTV footage, some wearing face masks stormed into the showroom and forced customers and employees to raise their hands, creating a tense and fearful atmosphere.

They carried a pistol in their hands along with the gun they snatched from on-duty security guard, Manoj Kumar. They went to the racks and targeted gold, silver, and diamond ornaments. The videos showed them packing the items into bags before escaping the spot.

The criminals had reportedly arrived in a car and parked it across the street before executing their plan. First, they attacked the security personnel and snatched his weapon.
