On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Delhi Police has refused to allow Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to take out a procession in Jahangirpuri area of North-West Delhi. The police have cited the sensitivity of the region and the possible impact on law and order behind their decision.
Police order
An official order issued on Friday stated that VHP had sought permission to take out a procession from A-Block in Jahangirpuri to K-Block.
In its reply, the police said, “This request cannot be accepted keeping in mind the security situation and sensitivity of the area.”
However, the police made it clear that the VHP could celebrate the festival within the temple complex, but the procession will not be allowed at the public place.
Precautionary measures and security system
Delhi Police has tightened security in Jahangirpuri and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident.
- Rapid Action Force (RAF) troops have been deployed
- Apart from Delhi Police, the soldiers are ready in sensitive areas
- The police officer said, “No one will be allowed to dissolve law and order.”
In the last few years, Jahangirpuri has been seen as a sensitive area, in such a situation, the police is taking additional vigilance regarding any kind of public rally or procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
