Cyclone Fengal, which originated from the Northern Indian Ocean, caused havoc to the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, with landslides wrecking normal life in the state, particularly Chennai and its adjoining areas.
In addition, the cyclone also brought torrential rain to the city. The CM of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin has demanded the Union Government for a Rs 2,000 package to deal with the devastation caused by the floods.
Amidst these acute developments, few stories of hope and mirth have appeared on social media platforms. These instances are looking at a different avenue of development.
One such incident came to pass in the city when a grandpa took his grandkids for a scooter ride. Nothing may seem odd or abstruse about it. But, it is the medium and the situation that stands out.
Grandpa’s Jet Skiiing
In the video the ‘grandpa’ can be seen riding a scooter in the flooded compound of what appears to be a residential area. In the video, to the scooter, a plastic tableau is attached the scooter, which consists of two kids, possibly aged under 10.
The scooter used in the video is said to be an Ola scooter.
And comes next is what one would expect in the day and age of social media.
Ola Electric’s founder Bhavish Aggarwal reposted the original post, which carried the caption, “Grandfather with his grandchildren. Chennai, cyclone.”
Wading Through the Floods
In addition to that, Aggarwal also reposted another video featuring his Ola scooters. In this particular case, a man can be seen wading through, what looks a flooded street in a relatively isolated neighbourhood. The video runs with a caption, the power of Ola.
This could be seen a much necessary, unofficial PR for the company, which has struggled to manage its bad PR, from its malfunctioning vehicles, and the company services, that have been deemed as suboptimal.
