In a heart-breaking incident in Ohio, United States, a 7-month-old baby girl was mauled to death by the family’s Pitbull dog.

According to a report by the New York Post, the child’s mother, Mackenzie Copley, expressed her grief in an emotional Facebook post. “I will never understand why!!!” she wrote, sharing images of her daughter, Elizah Turner, peacefully cuddling with the dogs. “I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day,” she added.

Elizah’s father, Kameron Turner, also mourned the loss on social media, writing, “Life is so not fair. How can I continue living without her.”

In a touching obituary, the adorable seven-month-old Elizah Renne Lynn Turner was remembered as a joyful and radiant child: “Lizah was spunky, happy… and she was never without a smile. She brought light to everyone’s life, healed her family’s hearts, and gave them all purpose. Elizah’s face would light up the room and her laugh was contagious.”, penned the grieving father, Kameron Turner in a Facebook post.

As per WBNS, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the infant as 7-month-old Elizah Turner. Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua said that Elizah was bitten by the family dog at their home on the 3700 block of South Champion Avenue.

According to report in the Daily Mail, the pit bulls were escorted out of the home by Franklin County Animal Control. The agency will soon determine what happens to the dogs.

While Ohio does not have a statewide ban on pit bulls or other breeds, some cities enforce breed-specific legislation.
