According to the study published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, dementia in women begins at an average age of 65 to 75 years, while in men it may begin between 55 and 75 years. The researchers found that areas of the brain that are associated with auditory processing, visual perception, emotional processing and memory had the greatest impact.

Study also from discovered that cardiovascular disease can have harmful effects on the brain of men and women even without the influence of the risk gene (APOE4).

brain and abdominal scan

34,425 participants were analyzed. Men and women with more abdominal fat and visceral adipose tissue were found to have less gray matter volume in the brain. Due to obesity and heart disease, brain volume can gradually decrease over several decades.

Study Emphasis was placed on reducing risk factors for heart disease before age 55. According to researchers, controlling obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes can reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s.
