Nursing Student Jumps From Moving E-Rickshaw To Escape Rape In UP’s Lucknow; 4 Arrested After Shocking Video Goes Viral | X/@TrueStoryUP
Lucknow: A shocking case of an alleged molestation and rape attempt with a nursing student in a moving e-rickshaw has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. A CCTV footage of the girl jumping out of the moving vehicle is making rounds on the internet.
On Monday (19 May) evening, three youths sitting in an e-rickshaw along with the driver tried to force themselves on the student and attempted to rape her. In an attempt to save herself, the student risked her life and jumped from the moving e-rickshaw, due to which she was severely injured on her head, hands and knees. The police have arrested all four accused.
How The Incident Unfolded?
On Monday evening, the girl had gone to her maternal uncle’s house. While returning, she boarded an e-rickshaw. Halfway to the destination, the e-rickshaw suddenly stopped and the driver left his seat and sat next to the girl. A companion of the driver started driving the rickshaw. The student was busy with her phone and did not pay attention that the man behind the wheels had changed. When the student asked the e-rickshaw to stop at her location, instead of stopping, the man driving the vehicle accelerated it.
During this time, the youths sitting in the e-rickshaw started molesting the girl and did obscene acts. When the student resisted and started screaming , the accused gagged her mouth. After this, the e-rickshaw moved towards a deserted street. To save herself, the student jumped from the moving rickshaw. Passerbys noticed the bleeding girl and rushed her to a nearby hospital.
Police Action
Based on the student’s complaint, dozens of CCTV footages were scanned, which helped identify the accused. The police have arrested e-rickshaw driver Satyam Singh, a resident of Faizullaganj, and his three companions, Anuj Gupta alias Akash, Ranjit Chauhan and Anil Sinha. Investigation has revealed that driver has previously gone to jail on charges of theft. The criminal history of other accused is also being probed.
