A nurse was duped of Rs11.08 lakh by a man whom she met on a matrimonial website. The fraud, who introduced himself as Arjun Pradeep Kumar, claimed that he worked as a doctor in the UK.
After a few days, he told the woman that he had sent a gift parcel for her, which was stopped by the Customs at the Delhi airport. On this pretext, he kept fleecing her between September 6 and 28.
Promising to marry her, Kumar made her pay money for getting the non-existent parcel cleared. The con finally came to the fore when he went incommunicado after receiving the money. He even blocked the woman on WhatsApp before deleting their chats.
Realising that she had been duped, she approached the cyber police station, western division, Mumbai and lodged a complaint.
