NSD To Hold Drama Fest In City Under Bharat Rang Mahotsav; Khelo MP Youth Games 2024 Put Off

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The National School of Drama (NSD) is going to organise a five-day drama festival under its flagship Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) Bharat Bhavan from February 5. BRM which is known as ‘Bharangam’ – the world’s largest theatre festival, will take place from January 28 to February 16, 2025, across 13 cities in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

The fest will begin with a Hindi play ‘Agnisuta Draupadi’. Written by Mohan Joshi and directed by Maisnam Joy Meteei, the play will be presented by Taam, Imphal, Manipur. Written  by Athol Fugard and Directed by  Atanu Sarkar, Sinhala play ‘Sindu Kirilli 2 (Veronica Returns) will be presented by Red Wings Theatre Group of  Sri Lanka on February 6.

Habib Tanveer’s classic play  ‘Charandas Chor’ will be staged in Bangala on February 7. Directed by Bidisha Chatterjee , the play will be presented by Dum Dum Biswarupam Kolkata, WB. A German play ‘Brachland-Fallow Land,’ written by  Wenn Orte Sprechen Ensemble and directed by Julia Strehler, will be staged on  February  8. The fest will end with Priyadarshan’s Hindi play ‘Betiyan Mannu Ki’ on February 9.

Second Edition Of State Version Of Khelo India Games Was To Be Organised In December 2024 – January 2025

The Khelo MP Youth Games 2024 have been put on hold as the preparations for the 38th National Games and also for the classes 10 and 12 board examinations are underway. The national games are slated for January 28 in Uttarakhand and conclude on February 14.

While classes 10 and 12 examinations of CBSE and MP Board will be held in February and March respectively and continue till April. This has prompted the authorities concerned to defer Khelo MP Youth Games, which are unlikely to be organised before May this year.

The second edition of the games was to be organised at the divisional, district, and block levels in December 2024 or in January 2025. A meeting of sports association officials, coaches, and technical officials was held to discuss preparations for the event. 

In fact, the schedule for competitions was announced at the meeting.  divisional, district and block-level selections were to be held from December 5 to 28 last year .  Registration for the Khelo MP Youth Games 2024 was also started.

Applicants had to submit their application forms to the district sports and youth welfare office, by December 4, 2024. Joint director at the directorate of sports and youth welfare department, Bhopal, BS Yadav has told Free Press that the date of Khelo MP Youth Games 2024 is still not decided.

“Earlier, we were planning to organise it in December 2024 or January 2025. But it could not be held due to the preparations for the 38th National Games,” he said, adding that “After the national games, board examinations will start. So, a meeting regarding the Khelo MP Youth Games will be held soon in which it will decide when the game will be held.”
