He said that this benefit will be available to senior citizens of 70 years or above already covered families under AB PM-JAY, as well as families who have not yet been covered under AB PM-JAY. The CMO said that to get benefits under the scheme, the only eligibility criterion of the person should be 70 years or more. It will be determined on the basis of age recorded in the base. Aadhaar will be the only document for enrollment. Aadhaar-based e-KYC will be mandatory for senior citizens of both existing and new families to issue nomination of Ayushman card. In the already covered families under the AB PM-JAY, an additional shared top-up of up to 5 lakhs per year will be provided for senior citizens aged 70 years and above. This top-up cover up to 5 lakhs will be provided for the treatment of senior citizens if other members have made complete or partial use of the original family wallet.
Apart from this, if senior citizens (aged 70 years and older) make full or partial use of the original family wallet of 5 lakhs, then other family members will be provided top-up cover of up to 5 lakhs. He informed that currently a common cover of 5 lakh per family will be available for senior citizens of families who are not covered under AB PM-JAY. This cover will be special for senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
How will this special card be made
You have to visit the official website of Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PMJAY.GOV.IN or https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in), where you have to visit. Aadhaar card will be applied on the basis of date of birth. This portal will have a separate window for special cards. Along with this, you can also apply through Ayushman app from Google Play Store and also apply through it. There will be a separate feature in this app, through which the application can be made. A new card will be generated after the E-KYC option. You will also be able to apply through the official website of Ayushman Bharat Yojana PMJAY.GOV.IN or https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in.
