The day of love meant another day of decline for the Indian markets. On Friday, February 14, which is also celebrated as Valentine’s Day, the Indian indices continued with the larger trend of decline. The markets have been trading in red for the past few trading sessions.
As the day came to an end, the BSE Sensex slumped with losses of 199.76 points, or 0.26 per cent, ending the day at 75,939.21. Similarly, the NSE Nifty dropped in value by 134.10 points or 0.58 per cent, to close at 22,897.30.
Additionally, the Nifty Bank also closed in red. The index closed at 49,058.00, decreasing by 301.85 or 0.61per cent.
Major Gainers and Losers
Gainers: On the BSE tranche, at the time of writing, major gainers included Nestle India, ICICI bank, Infosys and HCL tech, with gains of under 1 per cent.
Losers: Adani Ports was one of the biggest losers today, as it lost over 4.5 per cent of its value . Ultratech, Sun Pharma and NTPC also lost in excess of 2 per cent.
Markets In The Morning
The Sensex began the day at 76,388.99, up from the day’s 76,138.97. And the Nifty opened at 23,096.45, up from the previous day’s 23,031.40.
Nifty Bank in the morning session was trading high at 49,485.65, also up from previous day’s closing of 49,359.85.

Asian Markets
The Asian markets ended the day in a mixed batch, as the indices closed for the week. Japan’s Nikkei lost 0.79 per cent or 312.04 points, tipping under the 40k mark, closing at 39,149.43.
Another Tokyo-based index, TOPIX, closed at 2,759.21, losing by 0.23 per cent or 6.38 points. As we moved to China, the Hang Seng closed with significant gains in its numbers, closing with a jump of 3.69 per cent or 805.96 points, at 22,620.33.
Shanghai-based SSE Composite also ended the day’s trade in the green, with marginal gains. The index rose slightly by 0.43 per cent or 14.24 points of its value and closed at 3,346.72.
South Korea’s KOSPI has a different story to tell as it closed in green with gains of 0.31 per cent or 7.88 points, rising to 2,591.05.
