Mohammad Yusuf, whose classic batting style is still remembered today, had the record of scoring the most runs in a calendar year of Test cricket in 2006.

Joe Root, who scored 1708 runs in 29 innings in 2021, is at number three in the list, but no one reached close to the average and number of innings of Joseph.
