Punjab with seven colleagues of Khalistani leader and MP Amritpal Singh in Punjab’s Dibrugarh jail : The government has taken a big decision. The government has decided to not extend the period of NSA under the NSA against 7 colleagues of Amritpal and prosecute them. All these accused are accused of attack at Ajnala police station.
7 colleagues of Amritpal will be brought to Punjab for hearing
According to sources, seven associates of Amritpal Singh are lodged in Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act (NSA), against which the Punjab government has decided not to extend the NSA period. The government wants to prosecute all the seven accused of the attack on Ajnala police station. The government has also said that all the seven accused will be brought to Punjab, after which a case will be started against them. However, the government has not yet taken any decision regarding Amritpal and his two colleagues.
MP Amritpal approved 54 days leave
Earlier, the Central Government had informed the Haryana court regarding Amritpal Singh, MP from Khadur Sahib constituency in Punjab that the jailed MP has been given 54 days leave. This information was given by Additional Solicitor General Satpal Jain while presenting a letter issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on March 11 before the bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sumit Goyal.
The possibility of Amritpal being expelled from Parliament is over
The letter states that Amritpal Singh has been given a holiday from 24 June 2024 to 2 July 2024, 22 July 2024 to 9 August 2024 and from 25 November 2024 to 20 December 2024. On this issue, the bench said, ‘The petitioner (Amritpal) was afraid of being expelled from Parliament, however, this letter has removed that concern. Amritpal had demanded in the petition that permission should be given to meet officials and ministers for local development works related to MP fund, on which the court said that the proceedings of Parliament are subject to some rules, so the petitioner should apply before the Speaker of the Lok Sabha on the issue.
Amritpal is lodged in Dibrugarh jail
Amritpal Singh, president of Waris Punjab De Sangathan, is lodged in Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act. He applied for permission to participate in the Lok Sabha session. He said that constitutional rights are being violated due to my continuous absence, due to which the people of his constituency have remained representative. He argued that if I was absent from the Lok Sabha for 60 days, then my seat can be declared vacant, which can affect 19 lakh voters.
