Recent reports claiming that Bollywood diva Disha Patani has been cast as the second lead in Prabhas’ upcoming period drama Fauji have been dismissed by the film’s production team. Contrary to the rumours, the team has clarified that they never approached the actress for the role.
According to a report in Money Control, a production head confirmed, “It is all a rumour, and we have not approached Disha Patani. Casting for the female lead is done, and the news about having a second leading lady is fake.”
Disha has not reacted to the reports yet. Earlier, it was reported that Disha will play the second female lead in Fauji. It was also said that Disha was approached to enhance the action-packed film’s ‘glamour’ quotient.
Directed by Sita Ramam fame Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauji is a highly anticipated period romance. The film marks the Telugu debut of Imanvi Esmail as the female lead.
Producer opens up about progress of Fauji
At a recent press meet, producer Ravi Yerneni provided an update on the film’s production. “The film is progressing at a brisk pace and has come out very well. It is a period drama with beautiful elements of love and romance. We are sure it is going to be a blockbuster hit,” he stated.
While Disha Patani is not part of the project, Fauji boasts a strong ensemble cast. Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has been officially cast in the film, alongside legendary stars Jaya Prada and Mithun Chakraborty.
With the film’s shoot in full swing, speculation about its cast has continued to generate excitement among fans of Prabhas.
Meanwhile, Disha was last seen in Kanguva with Suriya and Bobby Deol. She will next be seen in Welcome To The Jungle with Akshay Kumar and others.
