Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore excise department has tightened the noose for December 31’s New Year events, as no party is allowed to serve alcohol without a proper license.
To maintain law and order during the new year’s eve, the organisers are being instructed to conclude the event timely and follow all the instructions. Any event going against the instructions is said to face strict action.
According to Assistant Excise Commissioner Manish Khare, organizers must obtain temporary licenses for serving alcohol at any New Year events in Indore. The excise department has started tracking the events through social media and other platforms, and the department has formed special teams to monitor events on December 31 itself.
What are the rules?
Parties serving alcohol must have a proper license. Without one, they will not be permitted.
Pubs and restaurants must close by midnight, 12 am.
According to information, numerous parties are being planned at hotels, restaurants, resorts, and farmhouses. To ensure compliance with the law, the Excise Department has already stepped up its vigilance against unauthorized alcohol parties. All the organisers are also being instructed to comply with the rules.
VHP submits memorandum
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal submitted a memorandum to ACP Amit Singh, emphasizing the need to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations.
Their key demands include:
Strict action against drunk driving, including vehicle seizures.
Hotels and pubs should close by midnight.
Firecrackers should not be allowed in public places.
Minors found drunk in public or at parties should face legal action, with bail granted only after 24 hours.
Large-scale events should be restricted to avoid disturbances.
