Navi Mumbai is set to undergo a significant transformation as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) rolls out a series of ambitious infrastructure projects. With the city’s population rising rapidly and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport poised to boost economic activity, NMMC has unveiled plans to enhance mobility, healthcare, education, and public amenities.
To tackle increasing vehicular traffic and unorganized parking, NMMC is formulating a Comprehensive City Mobility Plan and Parking Policy Plan. “This initiative aims to streamline road traffic, reduce congestion, and improve commute times, ultimately saving fuel and minimizing pollution levels,” said an official
With the international airport set to become operational soon, all access roads and major routes will be upgraded to meet global standards. “The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is assisting in road development planning. Additionally, 19 new flyovers are in the pipeline to enhance traffic flow and ensure high-speed, uninterrupted travel across the city,” informed the official.
Recognized as one of Maharashtra’s cleanest and most beautiful cities, Navi Mumbai will soon welcome visitors with grand entrance gates at key entry points along the Mumbai-Pune National Highway. These gates aim to enhance the city’s identity and create a lasting impression on tourists and commuters.
To expand public infrastructure, NMMC is informed to have requested 1,063 public-use plots from CIDCO and MIDC. “A Rs 50 crore budget has been allocated for the gradual acquisition of these plots, ensuring the development of essential amenities across the city,” said an official.
