Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has intensified its efforts to maintain cleanliness along the Sion-Panvel Highway, railway stations, and MIDC areas. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed special attention to these high-traffic zones, emphasizing coordinated action with various agencies, including the Public Works Department (PWD), CIDCO, Railways, and MIDC.
The Sion-Panvel Highway, under the jurisdiction of the Maharashtra State PWD, witnesses heavy vehicular movement, including trucks transporting construction materials and goods to JNPT. Given the constant activity, maintaining cleanliness along the highway remains a challenge. To address this, NMMC has formed a special task force to work closely with PWD officials and ensure regular cleaning operations.

Similarly, CIDCO is responsible for the upkeep of 12 railway stations in Navi Mumbai, which experience heavy footfall daily. The newly formed task force has been instructed to monitor these stations’ cleanliness and coordinate with CIDCO officials to keep the premises well-maintained.
Additionally, the industrial zones in the eastern part of Navi Mumbai, under MIDC, face issues of illegal debris dumping, especially during nighttime. To combat this, anti-debris squads have been directed to enhance their vigilance and work in tandem with MIDC authorities to prevent such activities and maintain hygiene standards.
“There is a need for continuous collaboration between NMMC and other agencies to ensure effective cleanliness measures across the city. Regular monitoring and proactive steps are being taken to uphold Navi Mumbai’s reputation as a clean and well-organized urban area,” Municipal Commissioner Dr Shinde said.
