To encourage the talent of officers and employees to write poetry, Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation (NMMC) organised a self poetry recitation competition. The event was part of the ongoing Marathi Language conservation fortnight.
A total of 31 poets participated in this event.To promote the Marathi language, the civic administration has planned various activities from January 14 to January 28.
The self-poetry recitation competition was evaluated by Ashok Gupte, renowned poet and grandson of legendary poet – Bee.Gupte encouraged the poets to remain dedicated to writing quality poetry. He praised the officers and employees for nurturing their poetic talents despite their busy work schedules.
The poet particularly appreciated the female employees who, despite balancing household responsibilities and jobs, have cultivated their poetic abilities with dedication and passion.Gupte emphasized the importance of presentation and delivery. “He pointed out that even in free verse poetry, there should be a natural rhythm and flow. He advised participants to keep participating in competitions, listen to good poetry, and continue writing,” said an official. Gupte also recited some of his own remarkable poems during the event.
The next program is to be held on January 21 at 11 AM.
The event will have renowned writer and poet Dr. Mahesh Keluskar deliver a lecture on “Mayboli Abhijat Marathi” at the NMMC headquarters. Literature enthusiasts from Navi Mumbai are invited to attend and experience this insightful session.
